The Fort Monmouth area in Monmouth County is the perfect location for a balanced, fulfilling lifestyle.
Known as the gateway to the Jersey Shore, Monmouth County has over 50 miles of beautiful coastline along the Atlantic Ocean, with the public beach at Seven Presidents Oceanfront Park only four miles east of the Fort. The County is also home to historic sites dating back to the Revolutionary War and over 30 park areas and recreational facilities including six public golf courses. The County operates a Recreation Center and Pool right on Fort Monmouth.
Monmouth County is optimally located for ease of access to New York City and Newark International Airport. New York City is an effortless one-hour, one-seat train ride from many stations along the Coast, with New Jersey Transit’s Little Silver Station a quarter mile north of the Fort. The City can also be reached by bus, car and ferry, making the Fort Monmouth area an ideal place for businesses to locate and commuters to call home. Newark Airport, offering the most flights in the New York-New Jersey metropolitan area, is 45 minutes away by car or an hour by train.
In addition to its proximity to New York City, the County has its own vibrant downtown centers. Red Bank is a shopping and dining mecca, and boasts regional arts and entertainment venues in the Count Basie Theater and Two River Theater. In addition to exceptional Brazilian, Italian and seafood restaurants, Long Branch features a mile-long oceanfront esplanade with shops, hotels and beaches. And Asbury Park is well-known as New Jersey’s premier music destination with venues including the legendary Stone Pony and Convention Hall, while also serving as a growing arts and technology hub.
Monmouth Park, a thoroughbred horse racing track offering wagering on live and simulcast races, is a mile south of the Fort in Oceanport, New Jersey.
The area surrounding the Fort in eastern Monmouth County is a haven for shoppers, with the 1.5 million square foot Monmouth Mall just five minutes south; the Grove, an upscale retail destination five minutes north; and national retailers located along Routes 35 and 36.
The County has an excellent public education system and is home to five magnet high schools including High Tech High School, U.S. News and World Report’s #1-rated STEM school for three years in a row and niche.com’s #1 public high school in the nation for 2015. Brookdale Community College, located less than 4 miles from the Fort in Lincroft, offers AA, AFA, AS, and AAS degrees in 37 programs as well as more than 20 credit certificate programs. In addition, non-degree courses/non-credit courses are offered through Brookdale’s division of Business and Community Development. Business & Community Development also provides courses specially tailored to meet the training needs of local businesses. Monmouth University, located 3 miles south of the Fort, is rated as one of the nation’s best colleges by U.S. News, Money Magazine and the Princeton Review. And Rutgers University, the flagship of New Jersey’s public education system and a leading research university, is just a half hour north of the Fort.
In addition to area assets, the Fort’s master plan envisions that it will be home to theaters, restaurants and shops; an 18 hole golf course; a bowling alley; a fitness center; 210 acres of ball-fields and active recreation uses; walking, jogging and biking paths; and over 200 acres of parkland preserves and passive open space.
